29vh_CDDVDBundleCoverArtMMichael Jackson fans will have plenty to be thrilled about come February. Not only is Legacy Recordings reissuing his 1979 pop and R&B masterpiece Off The Wall, but a new Spike Lee documentary about the superstar, Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown to Off The Wall, will be making its debut at Sundance Film Festival and subsequently on Showtime.

It’s hard to believe Jackson recorded Off The Wall when he was just 20 years old – the pivotal album that not only served as his solo breakthrough, but also ushered in an exciting new era of modern pop music. His first single from the album, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” also earned him his first Grammy.

The album, produced by Quincy Jones, has sold in excess of 20 million copies worldwide. It was Jackson’s first release for Epic Records, following his tenure with Motown. He became the first solo artist to achieve four Top 10 singles from the same album: “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Rock With You,” “She’s Out Of My Life” and the title track.

29vh_DocumentaryPosterLee’s insightful documentary chronicles Jackson’s rise from child stardom to the making of Off The Wall via footage from the singer’s personal archives as well as interviews with family members and fellow performers Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Questlove, Mark Ronson and more. This isn’t Lee’s first foray into studying the King of Pop. The avid Jackson fan released another documentary in 2012 called Bad 25, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the star’s hit song, “Bad.”

Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown to Off The Wall makes its world premiere January 24th at Sundance, but fans will be able to watch it on Showtime on February 5th at 9 p.m. EST on-air, on-demand and online. Following its TV debut, it will be broadcast worldwide. The reissue of Off The Wall will be available in CD, DVD and Blu-ray formats on February 26th.

I cant wait, Its really awesome album, the sound is so fresh and after 36 years still has the super groove.

By the OFFICIAL statement – as of 2014 it is certified eight times platinum in the United States and has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.

The documentary will show MJ at his best, the beginning of everything!

I would also like to see a documentary about the Dangerous and HIStory albums, his last great and mega successful albums.
