Happy Together 2020 Tour Rescheduled to 2021

The 11th edition lineup of the popular tour of ’60s pop music acts, known as the Happy Together tour, originally planned for 2020, has been postponed with most of the dates rescheduled for 2021. The tour is named, of course, for the Turtles’ big 1967 hit.

The Turtles continue as the signature headliners, but with the voice of the Archies, Ron Dante, again joining Turtles founding member and singer Mark Volman. (Fellow Turtles founder, Howard Kaylan, hasn’t participated  for several years.)

The rest of the 2021 lineup, in order of billing: Chuck Negron (formerly of Three Dog Night), The Association, Mark Lindsay – the longtime lead singer of Paul Revere & the Raiders, the Vogues, and the Cowsills. Together, they represent dozens of Top 10 radio hits.

The new edition, originally scheduled to begin in May 2020 now begins in June 2021 and continues through August. (Would-be concertgoers are urged to check with the venue first.)

The management company, Paradise Artists, that organizes the tour, had previously issued a statement (on May 14) to Best Classic Bands: “[D]ates have been moved to accommodate the reality of the health situation. Please check with your local venue to verify when your exact playdate is.”

The Turtles have sold over 40 million records worldwide. Their hits include: “Happy Together,” “She’d Rather Be With Me,” “Elenore,” “It Ain’t Me Babe” and “You Showed Me.”

Negron performs some of Three Dog Night’s biggest hits including “Joy to the World,” “Mama Told Me Not to Come,” “Shambala,” “One” and “Easy To Be Hard.”

The Association return to the lineup for 2020. One of the most popular singing groups to have come out of the ’60s, they are best known for their #1 hits “Windy,” “Cherish” and “Never My Love,” as well as the Top 10 singles “Along Comes Mary” and “Everything That Touches You.”

Lindsay sat out most of the 2019 tour following a pacemaker insertion not long after the 2018 tour ended. He performs such Raiders and solo hits as “Good Thing,” Arizona” and “Kicks.”

The Vogues scored such Top 10 singles as “Turn Around, Look at Me,” “You’re the One” and “Five O’Clock World.”

The Cowsills have been part of the last few years of the tour. Bob, Paul and Susan Cowsill are a family singing group and the original inspiration for television’s The Partridge Family and are best known for the songs “The Rain, The Park and Other Things,” “Hair,” “Indian Lake” and “Love American Style.”

I wonder why no promoter in Washington State is smart enough to bring this tour up here. Sounds like fun.

It is maddening that Chuck negron is not a part of Three Dig Night, It isn’t Three Dog Night if there is only 2 of them!
