Grammy award-winning band Clannad have announced a relaunch of their 2022 farewell tour. The kickoff coincides with the band’s In a Lifetime multi-format, career spanning anthology celebrating a 50-year career from one of the most successful Irish bands ever.

On April 7, they shared a reimagined version of their song “White Fool” featuring vocals by former Journey singer Steve Perry. Listen to it below.

Produced by Live Nation, the 23-city North American leg of the tour begins September 8 and continues through October 13. The group also has dates in Ireland and Europe this spring. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.

Clannad (derived from the word clan, meaning family in Gaelic) was formed in 1970 by siblings Moya, Ciarán and Pól Brennan and their uncles Noel and Pádraig Duggan (who sadly passed away in 2016). A short time later they became a six-piece with the addition of Enya Brennan who then went on to have her own successful solo career. Fusing elements of traditional Irish music and more contemporary folk, new age and rock they have created a beautifully unique and ethereal sound that combines haunting melodies and mesmerizing vocals.

After a decade that saw them release five albums, in 1982 Clannad reached wider recognition when they recorded “Theme From Harry’s Game” for a powerful three-part TV drama depicting the troubles in Northern Ireland. The song became a commercial success upon its release as a single, peaking at #2 in Ireland and #5 in the U.K., winning an Ivor Novello award and later being used in the movie Patriot Games. It remains the only U.K. hit single to be sung entirely in Irish.

Clannad has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including Bruce Hornsby, J.D. Souther, Paul Young, and Duke Special but their most successful collaboration was with enthusiastic supporter, Bono of U2. A fan of the band who declared singer Moya as “one of the greatest voices the human ear has ever experienced,” Bono duetted with the singer on Clannad’s 1985 hit single – and the song which gave the collection its title – “In a Lifetime.”
