When Bruce Springsteen Performed ‘Take It Easy’ For Glenn Frey
by Best Classic Bands StaffFor the second time since his tour began four nights earlier, one classic rock legend paid tribute to the memory of another. On January, 20, 2016, at Chicago’s United Center, Bruce Springsteen sang “Take It Easy” to remember Eagles’ Glenn Frey who passed away on January 18.
On The River tour’s opening night (Jan. 16) at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, the full band paid tribute to David Bowie with a rousing performance of “Rebel Rebel.” Read Best Classic Bands’ coverage here.
On this occasion, Springsteen came back onstage for the evening’s first encore and played a solo version of “Take It Easy,” the Eagles song most closely associated with Frey. He was joined midway by Suzy Tyrell on violin as the crowd sang along in appreciation.
