Fans looking to keep up with Brian Johnson can do so via the Interweb. The singing legend has found himself a new gig since leaving AC/DC. The band’s longtime singer is hosting a new five-part series, “The Producers,” on the U.K. digital radio station Planet Rock.
The weekly show, airing Sundays, follows Brian as he explores the lives of some of the world’s most renowned producers of classic rock acts. Bob Rock (Metallica, Mötley Crüe, The Cult), Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars, Journey) and Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush) will be among those included in the show. This week’s episode focuses on Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa, Rush).
Those who tune in can expect insight from the men who have brought some of rock music’s biggest albums to life. The producers will be sharing their favorite tracks as well as memories from their time in the studio with the bands they’ve worked with over the years.
“The Producers” is Johnson’s first major music-related project since he announced his retirement from onstage performances due to a serious hearing issue. However in June, Johnson stated that new inner ear technology may make it possible to perform live again in the future yet it may not be with AC/DC as it’s bassist Cliff Williams recently announced that he is “backing off of touring and recording” after the band wraps up touring with Axl Rose this summer.

“Having been fortunate to work alongside some of the best producers in rock, it’s great to be part of this show with Planet Rock,” Johnson said. “To be able to shine a light on how a producer captures a moment in the studio and turns it into rock ‘n’ roll dynamite, is great. Being able to listen to these guys talk about what they do best is a joy.”
Planet Rock also seems to be very happy with their decision as Brian for project’s host. “The quality of rock producers that we interviewed required a series host with rock credibility and an in depth understanding of how producers work with bands to create a distinct sound,” Planet Rock’s Ric Blaxill. “Brian is without doubt the perfect person to host the series with his incredible experience as a musician, and as one of rock’s most distinctive vocalists ever.”
