Plenty of cool collectibles. But no music or film

The Beatles are continuing the 50th anniversary celebration of the release of the animated film, Yellow Submarine, with a variety of products. One eye-catching item is a limited edition box set, limited to 1968 copies. The catch of this particular product? There’s no music or film included.

The Beatles Yellow Submarine Limited Edition Box Set contains the following items, as described on the Beatles store: the Yellow Submarine graphic novel, a 6.5-inch Yellow Submarine vinyl figurine, 16 Yellow Submarine lobby cards plus four Yellow Submarine posters (based on the originals), five Beatles badges, a replica Yellow Submarine movie premiere ticket, and an exclusive art card signed by Bill Morrison. The set is lavishly presented in a beautifully illustrated box.

It’s expected to be ready to ship on October 10 and can be ordered in the U.S. here; and in the U.K. here. (There are plenty of other items in the official Beatles store.)

The beloved film returned to theaters for a limited run in July for the 50th anniversary of the film’s original release, in “glorious surround sound” and “stunningly remastered” 4k.

On its release in 1968, Yellow Submarine was instantly recognized as a landmark achievement. The film combined pioneering animation techniques, dazzling visual invention, witty dialogue and of course glorious music.

The Beatles’ announced on May 30 the release of a limited edition, “Yellow Submarine” 7″ picture disc. The vinyl release, released July 6, features the title song b/w “Eleanor Rigby.”

The images on the 7″ picture disc are taken from the high resolution 4k restoration of the film. Order the 7″ in the U.S. here; in the U.K. here.
