Beach Boys (Mike Love)On the heels of the 50th anniversary of their legendary album, Pet Sounds and in the midst of former lead singer/co-founder Brian Wilson’s expanded Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary World Tour, another Beach Boys tour is bringing the endless summer to cities across North America.

This one is being led by remaining Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love and longtime member Bruce Johnston (and includes the member of another 1960s family pop band, John Cowsill, on drums). The group will be on the road through the end of the year, marking the 50th anniversary of the group’s #1 hit, “Good Vibrations.”

The 50 Years of Good Vibrations tour gets underway June 17th in Pala, CA, and will play a slew of dates until wrapping up in The Village, FL in mid-December. It will include a few special concert performances: a July 4th show at the Coney Island boardwalk in New York City, and a July 19th event at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds. The Kennedy Center gig will feature the band performing with the National Symphony Orchestra and will include several surprise guests.

This Sunday (5/29), the classic rock’n’roll band will perform at the 27th annual National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, DC., a show which honors the men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces. The event will be hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise and will include performances by country star Trace Adkins, opera great Renee Fleming and singer/actress Katherine McPhee. Fans can catch the special on PBS and on the American Forces Network stating at 8 PM ET.

The two tours aren’t the only competing events from the Brian Wilson and Mike Love camps this year. Both will be publishing their memoirs this fall. Love’s Good Vibrations: My Life as a Beach Boy is set to release September 13th, and I Am Brian Wilson: A Memoir will be available October 11th.
