A collection of music stars will perform at a benefit concert to raise money for relief of the Australian bushfires. Fire Fight Australia, announced today (Jan. 12), will take place on Feb. 16 in Sydney. Among the 20 names already revealed who will be performing are Alice Cooper, Queen + Adam Lambert, Olivia Newton-John, and k.d. lang. Even more artists will be announced. Tickets are on sale now here.

From the announcement: “Fire Fight Australia will see ANZ Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park play host to international and local music icons as they unite to share one stage for Australia during its time of need.”

All concert ticket profits and all contributions through Ticketek will go towards key organisations providing vital “Rescue,” “Relief and Recovery” and “Rehabilitation.”

The eclectic talent lineup was partly created out of serendipity.

Queen + Adam Lambert will be on their Australian edition of the “Rhapsody Tour.” They’ll perform a special set at the benefit concert the night after their own sold-out ANZ Stadium performance. Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter lang will perform two songs including her rendition of the Leonard Cohen classic, “Hallelujah.”

Cooper will be in the midst of the Australian run of his “Ol’ Black Eyes is Back” tour.

For those who can’t make it to the event, or are looking for more ways to help, please consider donating to the relief effort here.

We’ve all seen the images of the devastating fires and the heartwarming stories of people aiding wildlife. In recent days, such classic rock stars as Metallica, Elton John, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, among others, have made significant financial donations to the relief fund.
