Art Garfunkel played 50 concerts in 13 countries in 2015, including his first in Korea, two European runs including a set at Royal Albert Hall, a packed stadium show in Tel Aviv, Israel, and a sold-out performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall. It doesn’t look like he’s taking a break anytime soon. The singing legend is kicking off a small U.S. tour in Birmingham, Alabama on January 26th, with stops in Atlanta and Nashville, before embarking on an eight-night run through Europe.
The 74-year-old (how did that happen?) Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also plans to release an autobiography this year. Fans can get a sneak preview of the book on Garfunkel’s website – an excerpt where he shares poetic musings about everything from Paul Simon playing poker to a heartfelt gift his mother gave him.
Time will tell exactly what he’ll choose to share about his time with his former musical partner, Simon, who chose to split from the duo right at the height of their success in 1970. Even more than four decades and many reunion shows later, Garfunkel has spoken candidly in interviews about his confusion at how the whole thing went down. “How can you walk away from this lucky place on top of the world, Paul?” he mused in an interview with The Telegraph last May. “What’s going on with you, you idiot? How could you let that go, jerk?” That being said, he has not ruled out the possibility of another reunion with Simon, saying that such a show would be “quite doable.”
