They were selected two decades ago but Aerosmith will finally walk this way down Hollywood Boulevard. The band, celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2019, were scheduled to receive their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 14 at 11:30 a.m. PT but inclement weather caused its postponement.

From the original announcement: “Finally! We have been waiting a long time to honor Aerosmith with their star. Aerosmith is one of the greatest rock bands in the world and we expect many fans will be ‘Crazy’ excited to see them honored,” said Ana Martinez, who produces the event.

Aerosmith’s star is the 2657th on the Walk of Fame since it was established in the 1960s. Past honorees include David Bowie, Don Rickles, Steve McQueen, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, as well as such icons as Greta Garbo, Rudolph Valentino, Bela Lugosi, Bette Davis, George Sanders, Mickey Rooney and “dearest” Marilyn, who were immortalized in the Kinks’ song, “Celluloid Heroes.”

Martinez explained that the classic rock favorites had originally been selected in 1999 for the Class of 2000. “We’ve been waiting,” she said.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have a big 2019 planned to celebrate their 50th anniversary. On Feb. 12, they revealed a significant expansion of their Las Vegas residency. The new dates, running from September through December, are in addition to those previously announced for April, June and July. Tickets for their 2019 concerts are available here and here.
