The Monkees are being celebrated for their 60th anniversary with a new compilation, The A’s, The B’s & The Monkees, released on January 30, 2026, via Rhino. It’s the first-ever collection of all of the band’s hit singles released on the Colgems label between 1966 and 1970, plus new liner notes by producer Andrew Sandoval. The 2-CD set is available in the U.S. here, in Canada here and in the U.K. here. (A 2-LP edition is available in the U.S. here and in the U.K. here.)

Although it’s a commonly held belief that The Monkees earned three #1 singles in the U.S. with “Last Train to Clarksville,” “I’m a Believer” and “Daydream Believer,” that’s a true statement with regard to Billboard‘s Hot 100.

The Top 10 singles on Record World for the week of Oct. 29, 1966.

However, rival trade magazine Record World placed “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You” at #1, while that single peaked at #2 on the Hot 100. And RW also had “Valleri” at #1, with Billboard placing it no higher than #3. Thus, the group actually earned five #1 pop hits in the U.S. in a little over 14 months. “Pleasant Valley Sunday” was their only other single to approach those rarified heights, peaking at #3 on the Hot 100 and #2 on Record World.
