Update (March 6): He’s added two U.K. dates for July; tickets go on sale March 7 at 10 a.m. Many open dates remain in his calendar as well as (our) speculation that he’ll be adding to that sole September date back in the U.S. Stay tuned…
Update (Feb. 14): Steve Winwood has just added a sole west coast date: September 13 at the Hollywood Bowl. However, tickets won’t go on sale until May. Can a lengthy itinerary be coming?
Our original announcement of his spring U.S. tour…
Steve Winwood announced a 14-date U.S. tour on December 5. The classic rock veteran of such bands as Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith, Traffic and his own extensive solo career will kick things off on April 21 in Westbury, NY, and continue through May 10 in Nashville, TN.
The dates concentrate on the east coast and southeast. Tickets for all of Winwood‘s shows except Nashville go on sale this Friday, December 9, and are available here and via our re-sale partner, Ticket Network. Best Classic Bands will let you know if the tour expands beyond these 14 performances.
Winwood’s 2016 tour calendar was limited to roughly 25 shows, most of which were as the opening act for Steely Dan over the summer. His set usually spans his career from his huge 1966 breakthrough hit “Gimme Some Lovin'” as a teenager with the Spencer Davis Group, through Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home,” Traffic classics like “Dear Mr. Fantasy” and “Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys” and solo numbers like the #1 chart hit “Higher Love.”
