Rhino Reloads VU’s ‘Loaded’ for 10/30 Release

The fourth album by one of classic rock’s most influential bands, the Velvet Underground’s Loaded, celebrates the 45th anniversary of its original 1970 release with a “loaded” six-disc box set coming on October 30th. The Rhino Records collection Loaded: Re-Loaded 45th Anniversary Edition includes two remastered discs of the album in stereo and mono that include outtakes, singles and B-sides and a third disc that gathers together demos, early versions and alternate mixes. The album is Lou Reed’s last with the band and includes such Reed classics as “Sweet Jane” and “Rock & Roll.”

The set is rounded out by a remastered disc of Live At Max’s Kansas City that augments the original 1972 album with additional performances from the August 1970 show (after which Reed left the band) selected from the expanded version of the album that Rhino introduced in 2004. And a disc with a previously unreleased May 1970 show at the Second Fret in Philadelphia. The set is rounded out by an audio-only DVD with three different remixes of Loaded: A surround sound remix in DTS and Dolby Digital, a high-resolution stereo downmix and a high-resolution original stereo mix.
