u2-innocence-experience-tour-live-in-paris-1024U2 has announced that they will return to Paris in early December to play the concerts they postponed due to the tragic terrorist attacks on November 13th, one of which was to be an HBO special. The shows will take place at the original venue – the AccorHotels Arena.

The band called off the original performances just hours after a series of coordinated terrorist attacks left over 100 people dead in Paris, the majority of whom were attending an Eagles of Death Metal concert at legendary rock venue, the Bataclan. [See initial story here.]

“So much that was taken from Paris on the tragic night of November 13th is irreplaceable,” U2 singer Bono said. “For one night, the killers took lives, took music, took peace of mind – but they couldn’t steal the spirit of that city. It’s a spirit our band knows well and will try to serve when we return for the postponed shows on December 6th and 7th. We’re going to put on our best for Paris.”

The rescheduled shows are part of U2’s dynamite Innocence + Experience tour (#U2ieTour), which has seen the band welcoming all manner of surprise musical guests and pulling out songs they haven’t played in decades. (Check out our review of the North American leg of the tour here.)

The Monday night extravaganza on the 7th will be filmed live and subsequently broadcast on HBO at 9 pm EST on that same date as originally planned.
