In 2011, Judy Collins published her memoir, Sweet Judy Blue Eyes: My Life in Music. The title was, of course, a pun on the song “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” which appeared on Crosby, Stills and Nash’s 1969 self-titled debut. The song’s title famously refers to Stephen Stills‘ then-girlfriend, the aforementioned Miss Collins. When the song was officially released, Stills was just 24 years old; the blue-eyed Collins was 30.
Nearly 48 years after the song led off CSN’s legendary classic rock album, the two will partner on a tour. What started as a half dozen performances is now at 44 dates, as of June 28. (New dates are marked with an “*”.)

Best Classic Bands has followed this story since early March. An announcement on April 19, though, revealed that Stills and Collins are recording an album, their first together, for September release. The tour will feature songs from the new LP “along with treasured selections from their impeccable catalogs” plus “intimate stories from their amazing journeys that took flight five decades ago in Laurel Canyon.”
Collins, who turned 78 on May 1, first gained attention in 1967 with her Top 10 single “Both Sides, Now,” written by Joni Mitchell. She’s earned two other Top 20 singles: a 1970 version of “Amazing Grace” and a 1977 re-release of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns.” She recently published another book, Cravings, which is described as a “no-holds barred account of her harrowing struggle of compulsive overeating and the journey that led her to a solution.”
Watch Collins and Stills perform “Someday Soon” with Stills and Nash on the latter’s TV program…
Collins had an extensive U.S. tour of her own this past spring. Stills was also on tour with The Rides, the band he’s performed in for several years with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Barry Goldberg.

I just saw them, I was told not to say anything bad about people. So let me say, spend your concert dollars at another fine concert but not this one.
Just saw them at Montbleu…
Amazingly beautiful Judy… beautiful voice still.
Stephen has been my boy since 1967 when I first saw the Buffalo Springfield here in Tahoe. His guitar playing was superb!
This was on my bucket list! I wasn’t dissapointed! Several standing ovations! Well deserved! Good job!
