Ringo Starr Joined By Joe Walsh as 2024 Tour With All Starr Band Resumes
by Best Classic Bands StaffRingo Starr began the fall leg of his 2024 tour with his All Starr Band with a little help from… his brother-in-law, Joe Walsh. The second concert of the run, at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night (September 8), included a guest appearance from Walsh on the evening’s final number, “With a Little Help From My Friends.” The tour had resumed one night earlier in San Diego and continues with another 10 dates through the month. The band features Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart, Gregg Bissonette and Buck Johnson. Tickets are available here.
Starr revealed that the kit he is playing on this tour is a replica of the drums he used when he performed with The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. “I had the small kit because I wanted to be seen. But then I had the great idea and said, ‘Why don’t you give me a rostrum?’ and they built the rostrum and I’m up there having a great time.”
The concert at The Greek Theatre was a homecoming of sorts for Starr. “Thirty-five years ago this week,” he said to the audience, “we stood on the same stage with the first All Starr Band ever. And we’re still doing it!
Starr and Walsh are married to the sisters, actress Barbara Bach and Marjorie Bach, respectively.
Starr turned 84 years old on July 7.
