Last October, Brian May announced that he was canceling a series of December concert dates due to illness. Towards the end of the year, he assured his fans that he was “getting stronger.” So, it’s with relief that news arrived today (Jan. 26) that Queen + Adam Lambert have announced a 25-city North American arena tour this summer. The dates begin June 23 in Phoenix, AZ and continue through August 5 in Houston, TX.
After sold-out tours throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, Latin and North America, the announcement notes that the classic rock group “will debut a brand new show specially designed and created for this outing, bringing fans all their favorite Queen hits, like “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions.”
Tickets will go on sale Friday, February 3 at 10 a.m. local time here. Members of both Queen and Adam Lambert’s Fan Clubs will be able to purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, January 31 at 10 a.m., and American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, January 31 at Noon.
In October, May had written on his website: “I have been increasingly battling with a persistent illness which is destroying my energy and my will. I am now at the point where I don’t feel confident to perform the scheduled shows to the standard we all expect.”
The members of Queen met on the final of American Idol in May 2009.
No word, though, on any new recordings.
