Upon hearing the news of Gregg Allman‘s passing on May 27 at age 69, fellow classic rock legends such as Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr, Peter Frampton, Allman’s ex-wife Cher, and others from the music world began to publicly mourn the loss of one of their own. Best Classic Bands collected many of those tributes here. BCB also posted separate tributes from Allman Brothers Band members Warren Haynes and Chuck Leavell.
Since then, even more musicians have expressed their grief and admiration.
Fellow ABB founding member Dickey Betts, via his Facebook page:
“It’s too soon to properly process this. I’m so glad I was able to have a couple good talks with him before he passed. In fact I was about to call him to check and see how he was when I got the call. It’s a very sad thing. I, along with the entire Great Southern family, pass along my deepest sympathies to Gregg’s family, friends, and fans.”
“He was a lifelong hero, truly one of the greatest blues singers of our time.” – Tom #GreggAllman pic.twitter.com/XowSHKtfAc

Steve Winwood posted a tribute and photo via his Facebook page: “Gregg was one of the greatest Southern Rock/R&B singers of all time, having a unique blend of Country, Soul and Rock. In fact, he virtually invented the genre. I had been lucky enough to sing with him on a couple of occasions, and aside from being an incredible musician on both guitar and keys, he was a great person, and I feel very blessed to have known and worked with him. Music has lost one of its greats, and he will be remembered for his work for a very long time.”
