Eric Clapton Sets ‘Meanwhile’ Album With Guests Jeff Beck, Van Morrison

Eric Clapton has announced a new studio album, Meanwhile, which collects eight previously released singles (including ones with Jeff Beck and Van Morrison) plus six new songs. The latter recordings will be released digitally on October 4, 2024. The physical album, on CD or 2-LPs, arrives January 24, 2025, via his Surfdog label, and are available to order in the U.S. on CD or 2-LPs and in the U.K. here. One of the previously unreleased songs, “One Woman,” was shared on September 20, the day of the album announcement. Listen to it and several of the previously released tracks below.

Clapton returns to the stage on Sept. 20 with his first of five South American dates. They’ll be followed by followed by one in Mexico and three in Southern California, wrapping up on Oct. 12 with a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

Clapton is accompanied by his long-running concert band, including Nathan East (bass),  Chris Stainton (keyboards), Paul Carrack (keys and backing vocals), Doyle Bramhall II (guitar), Sonny Emory (drums), Tim Carmon (keyboards), and Sharon White and Katie Kissoon (backing vocalists). Clapton’s frequent opening act, Jimmie Vaughan, will support the California shows. Gary Clark Jr. does the honors for the South American and Mexico concerts. Ten days before the two Jeff Beck tribute concerts scheduled for May 22-23, 2023, at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Clapton shared a recording of “Moon River” (composed by Henry Mancini, with lyrics by Johnny Mercer) that the pair made not long before Beck’s passing.
