David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones and his wife Rodene Ronquillo had a baby earlier this month – July 10 to be exact. Duncan Jones revealed the news of his newborn son, Stenton David Jones, via a tweet.

David Bowie, of course, was born David Jones, so the youngster’s name is a tribute to the grandfather that he’ll come to know about. (The baby takes his first name from Bowie’s father’s middle name… got it?) It’s heartwarming to learn that Bowie was told about the impending arrival of his first grandchild on Christmas Day last year…
1 month since dad died today. Made this card for him at Christmas. Due in June. Circle of life. Love you, granddad. pic.twitter.com/sf7SEUtm64

Duncan Jones is a filmmaker whose next project is the science fiction feature Mute which is set 40 years in the future and starring Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd. His previous outing, 2016’s Warcraft was a big-budget action-adventure-fantasy film that did not perform well at the box-office. Ronquillo is a photographer.
Update (August 1): Bowie’s work has been nominated for four MTV Video Music Awards: Best Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Editing for “Lazarus” and Best Art Direction for “Blackstar.” The live awards broadcast will be held August 28 from NYC’s Madison Square Garden.

Bowie died on January 10, 2016 days after his 69th birthday and young Stenton was born precisely six months later. In the “you can’t make this stuff up department”: Bowie’s father’s full name was Haywood Stenton Jones. Bowie’s widow – the model Iman – was previously married to former NBA star Spencer Haywood.
