Update (May 17): It’s now a fairly substantial tour with ten dates mostly in South America (see below). We suspect that there’s still more to come.
In addition, the band’s Brad Whitford is reuniting with fellow guitarist Derek St. Holmes to resume their side project, Whitford/St. Holmes. (The two first collaborated in 1981.) While living in the same Nashville suburb, the two wrote several songs together and have recorded an album aptly titled Reunion coming June 3 (on Mailboat Records). They’ll begin a month-long tour with Whitesnake that same day. Click here for dates and ticket info.
Update (May 7): Aerosmith are slowly adding tour dates to their 2016 tour schedule. Besides the original three in Brazil and the U.S. festival appearance, they’ve now added dates in Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico (see below).
Update (April 27): The band have announced their first 2016 U.S. concert. They’ll be performing at the KAABOO festival in Del Mar, CA (near San Diego), which runs from September 16-18. Other acts on the bill include Daryl Hall and John Oates, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Buffett, Gregg Allman and Blues Traveler.
There’s been a lot of speculation in the media – by us included – about Aerosmith‘s future. In fact, Best Classic Bands even ran a story in early April headlined Will Aerosmith Say Farewell in 2017? in which we analyzed all of the recent clues. While we still don’t know if our headline will prove correct we do know now that the band will be touring in 2016. That’s the good news. The bad news – actually, for some of you it might be further good news – you’ll need a plane ticket and a passport to attend a show. (And bug spray to ward off the Zika virus.)

The group has now announced these dates:
Sept 17 – Del Mar, CA – KAABOO
Sept 29 – Bogota, Columbia – Parque Simon Bolivar
Oct 02 – Santiago, Chile – Movistar Arena
Oct 05 – Cordoba, Argentina – Estadio de Cordoba
Oct 08 – Buenos Aires, Argentina – Estadio Unico La Plata
Oct 11 – Porto Alegre, Brazil – Anfiteatro Beira Rio
Oct 15 – Sao Paulo, Brazil – Allianz Parque
Oct 18 – Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia – Allianz Parque
Oct 21 – Recife, Brazil – Classic Hall
Oct 24 – Lima, Peru – Estadio Nacional
Oct 27 – Mexico City, Mexico – Arena Ciudad de Mexico
A band of their magnitude requires a pretty elaborate amount of equipment, staging and manpower. So, while it’s speculation on our part, it’s hard to imagine that they would go to this trouble for less than 10 dates.
