Eddie Vedder performed Tom Petty‘s “Room at the Top” for the 2018 Academy Awards “In Memoriam” segment on Sunday night, March 4, 2018.
The clip honored Hollywood figures who died in the past year–those in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes–including such legends as Jerry Lewis, Don Rickles, Roger Moore, Chuck Berry, Harry Dean Stanton, Sam Shepard and directors Jonathan Demme and George A. Romero.
“Room at the Top” is from the Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers 1999 studio album, Echo.
The big winner at the 90th Oscars ceremony was The Shape of Water which won for Best Picture and Best Director for Guillermo del Toro among its four wins. The top acting awards went to the favorites: Frances McDormand, for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Gary Oldman for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour.
