Paul McCartney has added dates to his 2020 tour schedule. One week after the news of his headlining appearance at Glastonbury Festival 2020, he’s revealed many more European concerts.
At roughly 7 a.m. on Nov. 18, he posted a tweet teasing his performance at Glastonbury. Three hours later, the festival confirmed that the legend will headline the festival on Saturday, June 27. “Hey Glasto – excited to be part of your Anniversary celebrations. See ya next summer!”
On Nov. 25, McCartney announced 2020 concerts in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Spain. On Nov. 19, he revealed two Italy performances, as he prepares to take his “Freshen Up” tour on the road again. Ticket pre-sales begin this week, here.
Said Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis: “Having Paul McCartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true. There really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary.”
The 50th anniversary edition of the festival will be held June 24-28. If you’re hoping to attend it, you’ll need to purchase tickets on the secondary market. Tickets sold-out on Oct. 6.
McCartney’s initial post showed black-and-white photos of three people and the legend’s Twitter followers quickly surmised who they were and what the clues meant: minimalist composer Philip Glass, actress Emma Stone and Chuck Berry. That all added up to: Glass – Stone – Berry.
The appearance is the first 2020 performance that McCartney has announced. He’ll turn 78 just days before on June 18, 2020. He had previously performed at Glastonbury in 2004, with a typically massive 33-song set.

His Freshen Up tour began in 2018 and continued in 2019, with a combined 39 shows across 12 countries.
