A new animated version of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” has been released to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of his landmark solo debut album Blizzard of Ozz. The LP, released in the U.K. on September 20, 1980, ultimately sold five million copies in the U.S. (where it was issued on March 27, 1981). Watch the new clip below.
The album followed Osbourne‘s departure from Black Sabbath. A newly expanded 40th anniversary edition includes live versions of seven tracks that were previously unavailable digitally. The special edition is available for download here. It includes the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter’s hits: “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley” (both of which feature Randy Rhoads on guitar); along with “Suicide Solution.” “Crazy Train” has become one of the most played sports anthems frequently heard at NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL games. It peaked at #9 on Billboard‘s Top Tracks chart upon release.
The live tracks–“I Don’t Know,” “Crazy Train,” “Mr. Crowley,” “Revelation (Mother Earth),” “Steal Away (The Night)” and”Suicide Solution”–were recorded on the “Blizzard of Ozz” tour and were previously found only in the Blizzard of Ozz/Diary of a Madman 30th Anniversary deluxe box set.
