Liam Gallagher (at L) and Noel Gallagher (R) of Oasis perform “Live Forever” on opening night of their “Live ’25” world tour, Cardiff, Wales, July 4, 2025.
It was at or near the top of those “what if?” reunion lists that rock fans have debated. Ever since the Gallagher brothers—Liam and Noel—stopped recording and touring together as Oasis in 2009, tongues wagged with speculation as to whether they would ever share a stage again. Even when their hometown of Manchester, U.K., held a benefit concert in 2017 for the victims of a terrorist attack during a Ariana Grande performance there, only Liam participated. If not then, when? Or so Oasis‘ millions of still-diehard fans thought.
But on August 27, 2024, the brothers revealed a long awaited run of U.K. and Ireland shows. Within the next few weeks, additional countries and continents were announced ultimately leading to their “Live ’25” world tour, comprising 41 dates, all in stadiums. Each new set of shows quickly sold-out. And, at last, the Gallaghers found themselves together on stage on Friday, July 4, as the tour began in Cardiff, Wales, at the 62,000 capacity Principality Stadium.
Noel, 58, and Liam, 52, certainly appreciated the “when pigs fly” moment: The words “This Is Not a Drill” appeared in huge red letters on the giant screen behind the stage, along with actual newspaper headlines of the rumors that had begun appearing in the press in the days before the reunion’s official announcement.
As the pair took to the stage, the words “The Great Wait is Over” appeared on screen behind them. The long-bickering brothers even held hands, holding them aloft… for about five seconds.

And the reunion tour was officially underway with “Hello,” the lead track (with the familiar line “It’s good to be back”) from their second album, 1995’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory.

The band’s original success cannot be overstated. Oasis released seven studio albums. Each hit #1 in the U.K. (as did a 2008 compilation album). They also scored eight #1 U.K. singles and a remarkable 23 Top 10 hits. The pair occupied themselves with their own projects since the band split in 2009, with ten U.K. #1 albums between them as well as countless festival headline sets and stadium and arena shows.
The main set ended with “Live Forever” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” and Liam’s familiar snarl.
The Gallaghers are joined on the tour by original member guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell, singer Jess Greenfield, keyboardist Christian Madden, drummer Joey Waronker, Joe Auckland (trumpet), Steve Hamilton (sax), and Alastair White (trombone).
The concert closed with two singalongs, “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova.”
