Gregg Allman’s Family, Guests Play at Farewell Jam
by Best Classic Bands StaffIt was a solemn day for the musical friends of Gregg Allman on Saturday (June 3), as the classic rock legend was laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, Ga. Allman’s wife Shannon, five children, ex-wife Cher, former President Jimmy Carter, fellow Allman Brothers Band member Dickey Betts, and Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi of the Tedeschi Trucks Band were among the approximately 100 mourners in attendance.
And afterwards, family and friends gathered at the Allman Brothers Band Museum, known as The Big House, to celebrate Allman, who died on May 27, with a jam. (Watch a portion of it below.)
Allman’s ex-wife Cher tweeted a picture from the Big House at around 11 p.m. local time…

The Allman Brothers
It was as if you knew them all your life
Like they lived in your town
You just don’t want these people to die
They knew how to be brothers
Duane seemed attached, even in death
I’m so glad I had a kind word with Gregg
In of all places Mancini’s Lounge
It was the song Multi-Colored Lady, I mentioned
I still listen to it
