New Eric Clapton ‘Journeyman: Deluxe Edition’ Includes Prev. Unreleased Tracks
by Best Classic Bands StaffEric Clapton has announced a remastered edition of his 1989 album, Journeyman. This Deluxe Edition, coming November 21, 2025, includes four bonus tracks, with three that are previously unreleased. The album includes the classic songs “Pretending,” “Bad Love,” and “Before You Accuse Me,” and features guest performances from George Harrison, Phil Collins, Chaka Khan, Robert Cray, and more. It’s available for pre-order in the U.S. here, in Canada here and in the U.K. (coming here). Listen to “Forever,” one of the previously unreleased tracks, below.
The album, produced by Russ Titelman, features such musicians as Greg Phillinganes, Nathan East, and Jim Keltner. It peaked at #16 in the U.S. and was certified double Platinum. It reached #2 in the U.K., where it was certified Platinum. Of note, “Bad Love,” written by Clapton and Foreigner’s Mick Jones, earned the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
From the album’s liner notes, “It’s early 1989, and what ends up being an enduring sobriety has taken hold in Eric Clapton. He decides to return to the studio following the birth of his first son, Conor, and he feels he’s completely on solid ground for the first time maybe in his whole life. He’s ready for a new beginning, ready to ply his trade again with a clear head and a new album. What does he call it? Journeyman. To Clapton, it’s how he’s always viewed himself: Someone who’s out learning a craft, improving their skills as they refuse to be tied to one thing.”
