Fans of hard-rockers Foreigner are in for a special treat this summer: Original lead vocalist Lou Gramm, who sang on the band’s biggest hits of the ’70s and ’80s, says he will make some appearances with the band. According to an article published on the website Blabbermouth.net, Gramm will take part in the band’s 40th anniversary tour, along with group founders Mick Jones and Ian MacDonald and early member Al Greenwood.
According to the article, Gramm made the announcement on the SiriusXM Trunk Nation show. Gramm is quoted as saying, “Mick and I have talked about it at length. I think there’s a number of the original band members that still play their instruments, and I think that if I make an appearance, it will be with the rest of the band, the original band. And we’ll do half a dozen songs and then maybe do some things with his band.”

The article added that Gramm said he “would be open ‘to doing a song or two’ with only the current Foreigner lineup,” and that he “would feel a lot better with the original members around me. I just would think it’s appropriate, given what we’re celebrating.”
Gramm told the radio program that he hopes to perform seven or eight songs with the band. He added that he is unsure which other former band members might take part in the festivities, or in which cities he will appear. The tour, with support from Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, kicks off July 11 in Syracuse, N.Y.
Gramm left Foreigner in 1990, rejoined in ’92 and then left for good in 2003. Their current singer is Kelly Hansen.
Gramm and Jones last teamed in 2013 to sing the hits “I Want to Know What Love is” and “Jukebox Hero” at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
