Classic rock legends Journey have released their Live in Manila set as a DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2CD in North America on September 9, 2016 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
Originally issued on DVD-only in 2009, this is the first time the audio has been available anywhere in the world. Filmed in 4K resolutions utilizing RED technology, which delivers a more superior quality, this new release captures Journey’s concert at the SM Mall Of Asia in Manila, Philippines on March 14, 2009, which marked the homecoming of the band’s then-newly arrived singer and frontman, Arnel Pineda.
The Journey band members – including founding member Neal Schon (lead guitar, vocals), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, rhythm guitar, vocals), Ross Valory (bass, vocals), and Deen Castronovo (drums, percussion, vocals) – played a set of their greatest hits as well as a mix of tracks from their 2008 album Revelation. Having earned 19 Top 40 singles and 25 Gold and Platinum albums since their inception in 1973, Journey has penned some of the best-known songs in the classic rock era including “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms,” “Any Way You Want It” and “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’.”
Journey recently finished their summer tour with the Doobie Brothers. The two groups teamed up for a very special tour to celebrate the famed “San Francisco Sound” they helped cultivate. The aptly titled San Francisco Fest 2016 kicked off May 12 in Irvine, CA, and circled the country before finishing up back in California at the end of August. Traffic co-founder Dave Mason was along for the ride as well, serving as the opening act for the tour.
The band appeared at San Francisco Fest on September 4, 2016 on a bill with Santana and others. Here’s a clip of them performing “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’”…
