French electronic music composer and producer Jean-Michel Jarre, one of the first artists in the world to perform electronic music as we know it, announced today (Jan. 23) that he will bring his Electronica World Tour to North America, marking his first full tour there. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 27. Presale access begins Wed., January 25 at 10 a.m. through Thurs., January 26 at 10 p.m. here.
Nearly four decades after the release of his landmark proto-electronica album Oxygene, and almost 20 years since its sequel Oxygene 7-13, Jarre will now release Oxygene 3 in North America on March 24. The album, released elsewhere on December 2, contains seven newly composed and recorded pieces, titled parts 14-20. In a press release Jarre says that his inspiration for the newly added parts on Oxygene 3 was “not to go back in time, but to add a sense of now” to his iconic piece of work. On the new release, Jarre references some of the music from his entire body of work.
Pre-order the entire Oxygene trilogy, also due March 24, here.
Today’s announced dates–which begin May 9 at the Sony Center for Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada–mark Jarre’s first-ever proper North American trek. Jarre will perform at such hallmark venues as New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Bell Centre in Montreal, The Greek in Berkeley, CA, Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and more. The complete schedule is below.
His recent album Electronica 1: The Time Machine (via Ultra Music) is nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album. The first of a two-parter, it features such collaborators as Pete Townshend, Moby and Tangerine Dream, among others.

As the announcement states: “Famed for staggering visuals and the use of cutting-edge digital technology, which has been seen by millions of people around the world, Jarre’s new live show promises to be a truly immersive musical journey. He’ll showcase brand new music from his two-part LP Electronica and Oxygene 3, alongside classic material from milestone albums like Oxygene and Equinoxe.
