When news spread that legendary rocker Eddie Money, who scored with such chart hits as “Baby Hold On,” Two Tickets to Paradise” and “Take Me Home Tonight,” died at 70 on September 13, many of his classic rock peers paid tribute to the Money Man.
His family shared the news of his death that day in a statement: “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”
Here are several tributes from some of Money’s rock star pals like Sammy Hagar and Bret Michaels, friends and former colleagues. If you didn’t know the singer was a member of the New York Police Department before he pursued his music career full-time, you know now…
We are saddened to hear the passing of singer & former member of the #NYPD Eddie Money. @ImEddieMoney was a Brooklyn native before moving to California at age 19 & came from generations of police officers. You were a legend that will be remembered forever.https://t.co/dp0SRUyRsb

#EddieMoney Such a sweetheart. Saw him in January at our benefit for the Malibu fires/Borderline shooting victims and hadn’t seen him in years. He gave me a big hug and immediately, while still hugging me, whispered a dirty joke in my ear. “So this guy’s wife…” RIP, pal. ❤️💔

We had a great time meeting Eddie when he came to Colorado. He was so genuine to all his fans, and had a caring attention to what was going on in the crowd. He joked around with us no matter how late it was in the evening. What a great singer is now singing in Paradise for us all!! RIP.
Caught his outdoor show at Merriweather Post Pavilion, MD opening for The Little River Band=great, lasting performance; Eddie was full of energy! $ Man enjoy Rock ‘n Roll Heaven & thanks for the music & memories.

My heartfelt condolences to Eddie Money’s Family and friends. At 55 years old, I remember as a teenager seeing Eddie on the Merv Griffin show when he first came out playing ” I think I’m In Love” ! I also remember later while stationed in Hawaii “Take me home tonight” with Ronnie Specter at age 21! Also on that album Eddie did a beautiful version of “I wanna go back” by Billy Satellite..those songs and all of the amazing songs in between! Eddie made the soundtrack of my life thru Jr. High and High School and all thru time in the Marine Corps!! Eddie made those times just a bit more bearable..and whenever I hear any one of his songs , great memories of those times come flooding back with the force of a hurricane!! So Awesome!! Eddie will be greatly missed! The Rock n Roll Band in Rock n Roll Heaven just got it’s new leader!!! God Bless and Rock On Eddie!
