Black Crowes’ Robinson Brothers Set 2020 Acoustic Tour

Three months after announcing a Black Crowes reunion, brothers Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson have set an acoustic tour, dubbed Brothers of a Feather, to perform stripped down versions of their repertoire at intimate venues. The 11 dates, announced today (Feb. 10) begin this week; tickets go on sale at Noon local time here. (See the dates below.)

On Nov. 11, 2019, the pair announced that they are reuniting for a massive 2020 tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. On the tour of mostly outdoor venues, they’ll play the album in its entirety, plus all their hits. The North American tour begins June 17 and is currently scheduled to run through mid-September. Tickets are available here and here.

On February 13, 1990, the Black Crowes, led by brothers Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson, released their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. From the announcement: “At a time when journalists were mourning the death of rock as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, the Black Crowes emerged from Atlanta to resuscitate it. The authentically gritty blues-rock album, whose title is an homage to blues legend Elmore James, went double platinum in its first year.”

The album included the popular tracks “Hard to Handle,” “She Talks to Angels” and “Jealous Again.”

Chris Robinson says of reuniting, “I’m thrilled and blessed to be playing with my brother celebrating the music we’ve made & bringing our lives together full circle. Long live Rock n’ Roll & The Black Crowes!”

Rich Robinson adds, “First and foremost, I’m really happy to have my brother back in my life. To be able to play music again together and celebrate the first record we made as kids, is a gift. To have these songs stand up after 30 years is something I could’ve never fathomed.”

More from the Nov. 11 announcement: “Within their first years, the Black Crowes had toured with classic rock legends AC/DC, Robert Plant and Aerosmith. Their storied history has the common denominators of any famous band: bad label deals, addiction, band break ups and make ups, epic sold-out tours (including one where Jimmy Page joined the band), marriages and divorces, all while prolifically releasing eight studio albums, four live albums and selling over 35 million records. Chris and Rich wrote several hit songs all before the age of 23, while infamously butting heads their entire career. The band called it quits forever in 2013 with each brother vowing to never play or speak again.”

February 13, 2020 marks the official 30th anniversary of the now-5x platinum album, Shake Your Money Maker. On November 11, 2019 radio legend Howard Stern, one of The Black Crowes earliest supporters, shocked fans and rock journalists alike by announcing the reunion of Chris and Rich Robinson, who will tour as the Black Crowes once again, playing the iconic record start to finish.
