Legacy Recordings released Last Man Standing, Willie Nelson’s new studio album (and 11th for the label), on April 27. Arriving just in time for Nelson’s 85th birthday (April 29), Last Man Standing is available on CD, 12-inch vinyl LP and digital formats. Watch several of the videos below.
Last Man Standing, composed entirely of songs newly penned by Willie Nelson (and longtime collaborator and producer Buddy Cannon), is the successor to Nelson’s God’s Problem Child, which showcased seven Nelson-Cannon compositions and debuted at #1 on the country charts.

Nelson and Cannon have been working together since 2008, with Cannon producing more than a dozen of Willie’s albums. Nelson released two well-received albums in 2017: God’s Problem Child and Willie’s Stash Vol. 2, the latter a collaborative effort with his sons Lukas (leader of Promise of the Real, Neil Young’s current band) and Micah.

Fans of Nelson got a scare in January when the singer abruptly left the stage during his first number. According to published recollections from fans in attendance, Nelson began performing his customary opening number, “Whiskey River,” but was coughing and appeared to be having difficult breathing. He left the stage and did not return. He has since recovered and is back on the road with an extensive concert schedule.
