by Best Classic Bands Staff
Willie Nelson’s 79th solo studio album, Dream Chaser.
Willie Nelson has announced a new studio album, Dream Chaser. The title, via Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, marks his 79th solo studio effort and his 156th album overall, and arrives one month after the legend turns 93. The May 29, 2026, release is available to order in the U.S. here, in Canada here and in the U.K. here. Listen to the title track (and album’s first single), written by Buddy Cannon, Bobby Tomberlin, and Nelson, below.
From the March 18 announcement: The brand-new release brings together a collection of reflective, story-driven songs focused on relationships, personal growth, and life on the road. Rooted in classic songwriting traditions with a modern perspective, Dream Chaser balances intimate narratives with universal themes of perseverance, timing, and clarity.
The album continues Nelson’s long‑running creative partnership with producer and co‑writer Cannon, a collaboration that has yielded nearly 20 albums over the past 13 years. In a 2025 interview with GQ, Nelson described the origin of “I Can’t Read Your Mind,” a rare Willie Nelson–Bob Dylan co‑write, explaining that Dylan brought him the idea before Willie passed along his [notes] to Cannon, who developed the song into its final form.
Nelson turns 93 on April 29. He has many tour dates on his calendar, with many more, presumably to come. Tickets are available here and here.
