Steven Tyler took to social media on Saturday night (Sept. 30) to strongly deny reports that circulated widely on Sept. 28 that he had suffered a seizure following an Aerosmith concert in São Paulo last week. On Sept. 26, the band announced it was cancelling the last four dates of its South American tour due to Tyler’s “unexpected medical issues.” The Boston Globe, and numerous others, then cited a “source close to the band” that Tyler had suffered a seizure, noting that “it’s not clear what caused the seizure or if Tyler received a diagnosis before flying back to the States.”

On Saturday night, a note attributed to Tyler appeared on Aerosmith’s Facebook page stating: “I give you all an A+ for creative speculations but I certainly did not have a heart attack or a seizure.”

In their Sept. 26 statement announcing the abrupt cancellation of the tour, the band wrote: “Steven Tyler, is seeking immediate care and has been advised by his doctors that he cannot travel or perform at this time.”

In Tyler’s Sept. 30 message, however, he specifically cites “a procedure that only my doc in the states could perform.” His comment, in its entirety reads:

“It breaks my heart to have left this tour early…The band has never played better…just watch the 100,000 people at Rock in Rio…I give you all an A+ for creative speculations but I certainly did not have a heart attack or a seizure ((unless Joe Perry is takin’ a rippin’ lead))…Sorry to have cut the tour short but I had to have a procedure that only my doc in the States could perform…We’ve been to Tel Aviv… to Russia… to Rio… and all the in between… I guess it’s true what they say… “That life’s a pisser when Eu’re a peein’…”
