Steve Miller Band Cancels Entire 2025 Tour Due to… Weather

Steve Miller has cancelled the entire 2025 tour of the Steve Miller Band. Thankfully, it’s not due to a health-related issue. The 81 year-old is blaming it on the weather. In a post on his social media platforms on July 16 at around 8 p.m. ET, the classic rock legend wrote, “Always trust your instincts. The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires makes these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable.” The tour, announced last spring, had a robust 31 dates planned, and was scheduled to begin on August 15 and continue to November 8. Tickets were available here.

The entire message, signed by “Steve, The Band and the Crew,” reads:

Dear Steve Miller Band fans,
You make music with your instincts
You live your life by your instincts
Always trust your instincts…
The Steve Miller Band has cancelled all of our upcoming tour dates.
The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive
forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable. So…
You can blame it on the weather…The tour is cancelled.
Don’t know where, don’t know when… We hope to see you all again.
Wishing you all Peace, Love and Happiness,
Please take care of each other.

As recently as last Friday, July 11, Miller’s social media had posted, “Who’s ready for the start of the start of the big Steve Miller Band tour? Starts next month.”

Miller was a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late ’60s, perfecting a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music.

As he evolved, Miller, born October 5, 1943, crafted a stream of radio-friendly hits that scored on rock and Top 40 formats: “The Joker,” “Livin’ in the USA,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love,” and “Abracadabra,” among them. The band’s recordings are available here.

Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals were to be the special guest for several of the summer shows at outdoor venues.) Cavaliere, who turned 82 last November 29, has continued to showcase the Rascals great string of ’60s hits including “Groovin’,” “Good Lovin'” and “It’s a Beautiful Morning.” The latter was the title of a 2024 anthology, available here.
