Mick Jagger has had a successful heart value procedure, apparently avoiding surgery. The news comes from Billboard, citing sources.
The report notes “doctors were able to access Jagger’s heart valve through his femoral artery” via a catheter.
The procedure, at an undisclosed New York hospital, was far less invasive than surgery, though Jagger will be closely monitored for complications.
On April 5, Jagger showed his appreciation on his social media platforms, thanking his fans and the hospital staff.
Thank you everyone for all your messages of support, I’m feeling much better now and on the mend – and also a huge thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job.

The news comes days after the April 1 report via the U.S.-based website, Drudge Report, which broke the story about Jagger’s heart valve issue on April 1. That announcement followed the Rolling Stones’ news on March 30 that they have postponed their forthcoming tour. Drudge’s story had claimed – correctly – that Jagger would enter a New York hospital this week to undergo the procedure.
The operation normally has a 95 percent success rate and the 75-year-old Jagger, who is in excellent health, is expected to make a full recovery, say the reports.
The Stones are said to be looking at dates in July to reschedule their 2019 “No Filter” tour of North America. [On April 4, it was revealed that Fleetwood Mac would replace the Stones as the May 2 headliner at Jazz Fest in New Orleans.]
The Drudge report followed photos of Jagger on a Miami beach with his family that began circulating on March 31, some of which incorrectly described him as “recuperating” from his medical treatment.
Below is our original report from March 30, regarding the cancelation of the tour:
The Rolling Stones have postponed their 2019 “No Filter” tour of the U.S. and Canada, due to an undisclosed medical illness to Mick Jagger. The group made the announcement on Saturday, March 30 at 9 a.m. via their social media platforms.
The 17-date tour was scheduled to begin on April 20 in Miami.
Their complete statement:
Unfortunately today the Rolling Stones have had to announce the postponement of their upcoming US / Canada tour dates – we apologise for any inconvenience this causes those who have tickets to shows but wish to reassure fans to hold onto these existing tickets, as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates, which will be announced shortly.
Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.
“I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets, I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.” – Mick Jagger
A big disappointment for everyone but things need to be taken care of and we will see you soon. Mick, we are always there for you!
