Journey has announced a 2022 tour of North American arenas. The Freedom Tour 2022 begins on February 22 with dates currently scheduled through May 11 and will feature special guests Billy Idol and Toto, as separate opening acts. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers had previously announced a six-show Las Vegas residency, running from December 1-11, 2021, at the Theater at Virgin Hotels.

The 2022 tour is presented by AEG Presents. Idol will join Journey on all dates from February 22 through April 5. Toto will then join Journey on all remaining dates beginning on April 7. The tour spans 40 cities across North America and feature such classic rock favorites as “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Lights” and more.

Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets for U.S. dates beginning Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. local time until Nov. 18 at 10 p.m. A limited number of exclusive VIP Packages are also available. Tickets go on sale to the public on Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. local time here.

Journey will release a new album, Freedom, in 2022. In June 2021, Neal Schon noted that they had written dozens of new songs, and were “whittling it down to 10 or 12.” Over the summer, the band’s new lineup headlined the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago and played Central Park at We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert, in addition to honoring 9/11 first responders at the Tunnel to Towers concert in August.

Journey features founder Neal Schon (lead guitarist), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals) Jason Derlatka (keyboards, backing vocals), and Deen Castranovo (drums, backing vocals). Inexplicably, the announcement made no mention of either Randy Jackson or Narada Michael Walden, both of whom were added to the group’s lineup in 2020.
