Fans at Dead & Company Golden Gate Park Concerts Invited to Celebrate Cannabis
by Best Classic Bands StaffIn celebration of the well-established relationship between cannabis and fans of the Grateful Dead, Humboldt Family Farms has been asked to curate the first-ever legal sale of weed (and its sanctioned on-site usage) at Dead & Company shows when the band performs in Golden Gate Park August 1-3, 2025.
The concert series’ weed experience (known as Grass Lands) reached out to the Humboldt Family Farms brand of cannabis to honor the legacy farmers who supported the Grateful Dead for decades. The company, along with many other small growers, fled to the Emerald Triangle 60 years ago to escape persecution and stigma, and now they’re returning to Golden Gate Park to openly celebrate what they’ve been doing all along. Grass Lands will also feature other growers who represent that rich history and dedication to the land.
Joining Dead & Company, which includes Grateful Dead co-founder/rhythm guitarist Bob Weir and longtime drummer Mickey Hart, for the three concerts are Billy Strings (August 1), Sturgill Simpson (August 2) and the Trey Anastasio Band (August 3). Tickets for those shows are available here and here.

Presented by embarc for the fifth consecutive year, Grass Lands will feature some of the world’s highest-quality cannabis, a community drum circle led by drum STRONG, and exhibitions by Haight Street Art Center, Moonalice, and Jerome Baker Designs. Grass Lands then returns to Outside Lands on August 8-10 for a seventh year, presented by Zig-Zag. The lineup at the 2025 edition of the renowned festival includes Hozier, Beck with symphony, Vampire Weekend, Tyler the Creator, Doja Cat and dozens of other acts. Tickets are available here.
“Humboldt Family Farms is more than cannabis; it’s a celebration of community, environmental stewardship and the meticulous craft of sun grown cultivation,” said Scott Vasterling, the company’s founder. “We’re honored to celebrate the legacy of this region with the fans attending these Golden Gate Park events.”
