AXS TV’s The Big Interview with Dan Rather features the legendary newsman sitting down with some of the most celebrated figures from across the entertainment spectrum. The series returns for its Season 6 premiere this Tuesday, March 13, at 9 p.m. Eastern / 6 p.m. Pacific, with as big a classic rock name as there is: Robert Plant.
Best Classic Bands has an exclusive clip from the episode below.
The singer, songwriter and iconic voice of rock deities Led Zeppelin, sat down recently with Rather to talk about his recent album, Carry Fire, and covered a broad range of topics, including the genesis of “Kashmir,” for instance.

During the lively discussion, Plant offered that he was deeply inspired and intrigued by some of the genre’s founding figureheads whose influence would lay the groundwork for his own path to superstardom. He recalls, “We didn’t have any real measure of what [our parents] had been dealing with [during the war], so we were just going, ‘Hey, let’s go! What’s happening? Wow, there’s Little Richard!’ Little Richard! This guy banging the piano with a pompadour was driving us mad… And Bill Haley and the Comets, who you’d say would be quite tame by the standards of what followed, were just setting the world on fire. I looked at them and I went, ‘That’s what I want. I want to be like that.’”
