Bittersweet news arrived on December 14, 2023, when it was revealed that Emmy®-winning HBO Original comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm, starring Larry David, will return for its 12th and final ten-episode season. The 12th and final season premieres on February 4, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. New episodes will debut subsequent Sundays at the same time leading up to the series finale on April 7. Watch the trailer and a clip from the final season of Curb below.
The key art that accompanied the announcement used the tagline, “The last of his kind,” with a graphic reference to the effects of global warming. Curb fans have been waiting a while for new episodes. It’s been more than two years since the series’ previous season began on October 24, 2021. That Season 11 ended on December 26, 2021.
In the network’s announcement, David, its creator, wrote: ”As Curb comes to an end, I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this ‘Larry David’ persona and become the person God intended me to be – the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character. And so ‘Larry David,’ I bid you farewell. Your misanthropy will not be missed. And for those of you who would like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at Doctors Without Borders.”
Starring David as an over-the-top version of himself, the iconic Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm offers a tongue-in-cheek depiction of the writer/producer/comedian’s fictionalized life. Prior to the final season, CYE has aired 110 episodes.

The comedy series continues to prove how seemingly trivial details of one’s day-to-day life can precipitate a catastrophic chain of events. To keep the narrative spontaneous, the series is shot without a script and cast members are given scene outlines and improvise lines as they go.
Season 12 also stars Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Cheryl Hines, J.B. Smoove, Richard Lewis, Ted Danson, Vince Vaughn, and Tracey Ullman.

The series has received critical acclaim and has grown in popularity since it debuted on October 15, 2000, particularly for its writing and the actors’ improvisational comedy, which has amassed a staggering 51 Emmy® nominations (but just two wins), as well as multiple nominations and wins across the various guilds, including SAG, DGA, and WGA. Despite its ten Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series, it has never earned one for that category. In 2022, it lost to Ted Lasso‘s Season 2.
