Steely Dan have scheduled five concerts in the U.K. and Ireland in 2019 with their occasional touring partner, Steve Winwood. In addition, the band will return to New York City’s Beacon Theatre stage for a previously announced nine-night residency of themed performances starting October 17, plus select dates in other U.S. cities.
Included among this year’s Beacon Theatre concerts are performances of Steely Dan’s Countdown to Ecstasy (1973), The Royal Scam (1976), Aja (1977), Gaucho (1980), Donald Fagen’s solo album The Nightfly (1982), plus “By Popular Demand” and “Greatest Hits” nights. Each night, Steely Dan will also treat audiences with selections from the Dan’s catalog.
On all shows, Fagen will be joined once again by the musicians who have supported him in recent years, including: Jon Herington (guitar), Keith Carlock (drums), Freddie Washington (bass), Jim Beard (keyboards), a four-piece horn section and three backup vocalists. The band’s co-founder and guitarist, Walter Becker, passed away in 2017.
