Monkees’ Mike & Micky Tour Postponed a 2nd Time

For the second time, Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees have announced rescheduled dates for their 2020 tour. The concerts, originally planned for April were first moved to July and September. However, on May 26, the tour, billed as “A Night of Magic Music & Memories,” was moved to 2021.

The tour, currently at 11 dates, will expand “in the coming weeks.” (See the revised itinerary below.) It will feature songs that span the group’s entire 50+ year career – from their 1966 self-titled debut to 2016’s Good Times.

From the May 26 announcement: “All tickets purchased for shows in April 2020 will be valid at the rescheduled date in March 2021. If you have any issue with attending a specific show, please return to your original point of purchase to see what their policy is for resolution. Any issues with the fulfillment of live CDs must be handled directly through Ticketmaster.

“Mike & Micky do not get paid anything from the ticket sales until after a show is performed. And since no shows have been performed on our tour, the power is purely with the ticket sellers now to clear the road for us to return as soon as it is safe for all of us.”

The duo’s first-ever live album as a duo was released on April 3.

The Monkees – The Mike & Micky Show Live is a 24-track collection recorded in March 2019. Watch several videos and listen to a variety of songs from the collection below.

Produced by The Monkees’ archivist Andrew Sandoval & mixed by Christian Nesmith, The Monkees – The Mike & Micky Show Live includes performances of their #1 singles: “Last Train To Clarksville,” “I’m A Believer” and “Daydream Believer.”

The live album also spotlights many of Nesmith’s finest compositions, including several songs that were never performed live during the Monkees’ heyday, like “St. Matthew” and “Auntie’s Municipal Court.”

Other Nesmith-penned tunes on the collection include live versions of “The Girl I Knew Somewhere,” “Papa Gene’s Blues,” “Listen to the Band,” “You Just May Be the One” and “You Told Me.”

Formed in Los Angeles for the eponymous television series, the quartet of Dolenz, Nesmith, the late Peter Tork and the late Davy Jones brought a mix of pop, rock, psychedelia, Broadway and country to their music.

During their heyday, the Monkees scored 16 million albums and 7.5 million singles sold in a mere two-and-a-half years.

In February 1986, after MTV broadcast a marathon of The Monkees, Dolenz, Jones, and Tork reunited for a 20th anniversary tour, with Nesmith joining them onstage for one date.

In the wake of Jones’s death on February 29, 2012, the surviving members of the Monkees reunited and performed a series of concerts. The shows were received so triumphantly that Dolenz, Nesmith, and Tork returned the following summer for a tour dubbed, “A Midsummer’s Night With the Monkees.”

To celebrate the Monkees’ 50th anniversary in 2016, the surviving members of the band recorded the well received album, Good Times. To support the record, Dolenz and Tork launched a successful tour that featured Nesmith beaming in remotely via Skype for a few songs during some of the shows.

In February of 2019, Tork died just eight days after his birthday.

Davy’s death had a huge impact on my life, as i had been to dozens of concerts with Davy solo and also Davy with Micky and Davy with Micky and Peter. im Sorry to say those were the Best shows ever. I would glady go to a Micky show as he carries on The Monkees music as did Davy and the trio with Peter Those were the best concerts of my life.
Hopefully Micky will perform on the East coast with his Sister and his band .i would love to attend.
