Hay (c) with the current Men at Work lineup

Colin Hay has resurrected the Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling band Men at Work for a 2019 tour. In addition, Hay will again perform with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band and do many solo dates in Australia and the U.S.

“It was during the Ringo tour of Europe, when confronted with the insatiable appetite for those old songs, that I got excited about the possibility of coming back, and touring with my band,” said Hay, who turned 66 on June 29, 2019.

Men at Work will perform their first U.K. shows since 1983. The June-July tour also includes many dates in seven European countries.

Hay co-founded Men at Work in Melbourne, Australia in 1979, and they rose to astonishing fame in 1981 with their debut album Business as Usual. The album was a global phenomenon thanks to the #1 hit singles, “Who Can It Be Now” and “Down Under.” The LP hit #1 on Billboard’s album chart where it stayed there for an astonishing 15 weeks.

Cargo followed in 1983, featuring the singles “Overkill” and “It’s a Mistake.”

The original band was short lived, however, which left Hay and Greg Ham (saxophone, flute and keyboards) as the core members. The pair toured extensively, as Men at Work, in the latter half of the ’90s, and early 2000s. Ham died in 2012.

The present lineup is made up of Hay and Los Angeles-based musicians. Apart from his contribution to Men at Work’s success, Hay has also released 13 solo albums.
