The Cowsills Plan New Album, Ask Fans’ Help

It’s been more than two decades since The Cowsills—the family group that started in the ’60s —has recorded a new studio album, although three core members—Bob, Paul and Susan Cowsill—still tour regularly (they are currently on the 2018 Happy Together Tour—go here for tickets). Now, the group is planning to return to the studio, and they’ve launched a campaign on Pledge Music to help get the sessions funded.

On the Cowsills’ page on the crowdfunding site, where they are pictured in the seven-piece ’60s lineup that included their mom, they posted:

“We’re The Cowsills! You probably know us from hits like ‘The Rain, The Park and Other Things’ or ‘Hair.’ Or you might know us as those kids from the 60’s who inspired the Partridge Family!

“We’ve been touring for many years and have made records over the years that we’re incredibly proud of, and have been wanting to get back into the studio for a long time. The time for a new Cowsills album has finally come, and we need your help to make it happen.

“In exchange for your generous donation towards our goal for the project, we’ve got lots of really fun and exciting things up our sleeves! You know the deal. Signed CDs, posters and vinyl, as well as really cool opportunities like house concerts and exclusive looks into the recording process. We don’t want this to be just a standard crowdfunding campaign—we want our fans to be instrumental in getting new Cowsills music out into the world.

“We can’t wait to take this journey with you! Let’s make an incredible album together.”

The singing group earned two #2 singles, “Hair,” and the beautiful “The Rain, The Park and Other Things.”

Fans are encouraged to donate anywhere from $10, for which they will receive a digital download of the completed album, to $30,000, which gives the generous fan “Executive Producer” credit and all sorts of perks. Fans can also gain backstage access and other perks for donations at various levels.

On the group’s Facebook page, they noted that the pledge drive was going well so far and thanked fans who helped out.

They mentioned pledges for money, understandably….but. what about the songs?? Have they written enough new material……….or will they welcome song contributions from fans?
