And he intends to cut yet another new album this year with his pre-Heartbreakers Florida band Mudcrutch.

No release date is set for Wildflowers: All The Rest, which issues further tracks recorded in the early-to-mid ’90s with producer Rick Rubin for what was initially planned as a double album. One song, the Mike Campbell composition “Somewhere In Heaven,” has been issued on iTunes and Spotify and is featured in the Entourage movie.

Petty, Campbell and fellow Heartbreaker Benmont Tench are slated to reconvene with guitarist Mike Leadon (brother of Eagle Bernie Leadon) and drummer Randall Marsh later this summer to record a follow-up to Mudcrutch’s well-received 2008 self-titled album. The band may also again play some live dates after the album is released, as they did on a limited basis following the last one.
