(Update 3/23): The band will be one of the headliners at this year’s Kaaboo Festival in Del Mar, near San Diego, CA. This year’s event runs from September 15-17 and also features the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Alanis Morissette, Jackson Browne, Michael McDonald, the Wallflowers, Dave Mason and the Magpie Salute, among many others.

(Update 2/8): Petty’s Facebook page added a note today for his west coast fans: “For those fans expressing concern, please rest assured that we do have additional shows planned for Northern and Southern California. However we are unable to announce further details at this time due to contractual obligations with several festivals, some of which have not yet been announced. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

(Update 1/3): The lengthy gaps in the 2017 schedule that we brought to your attention when we first posted this story on Dec. 9 got filled partially today with news that the band will perform at the Bottlerock Napa Festival, which takes place May 26-28. More to come…

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers revealed plans for a 40th anniversary tour via an announcement on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon early Friday morning (December 9). (The program ran delayed on the east coast due to NBC-TV’s airing of a NFL Thursday Night Football game.) The tour begins April 20 in Oklahoma City, OK and continues well into the summer. Joe Walsh will appear as a special guest through June 16 (except where indicated below). Chris Stapleton will be a special guest at several concerts.

Tickets for all of the shows, except for two concerts at New York City’s Forest Hills Stadium, will go on sale to the general public on December 16 at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. Pre-sales for Petty’s Highway Companions Club members will begin early (date TBD).

There are several lengthy gaps in the current schedule; stay tuned for potential additional dates.
