“The Music of Cream” celebrates the influential trio, who released this debut album 50 years ago
They’re calling themselves “The Music of Cream” and, while neither Eric Clapton nor Ginger Baker are involved—Jack Bruce died in 2014 so we can rule him out too—the musicians involved might say they are legitimate heirs to the name. The trio features Clapton’s nephew Will Johns, Bruce’s son Malcolm and Baker’s son Kofi. The Music of Cream will also feature Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, and Robben Ford.
The tour, set for May and early June, is currently limited to seven dates in Australia and New Zealand. It is unknown whether they will take the show to the United States or other locations. The full itinerary is below.
The group released a statement regarding their project, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the birth of Cream, undeniably one of the most influential trios in rock history.

Fifty years since their earth-shaking debut album, the bloodlines of that hallowed trilogy come together to pay tribute to Cream’s legendary four-album reign over the psychedelic frontier of the late 1960s. Kofi Baker and Malcolm Bruce unite with Will Johns to unleash the lightning that electrified a generation—with special guest, Glenn Hughes. Feel the fire and the freedom of ‘Spoonful,’ ‘Strange Brew,’ ‘Sunshine of Your Love,’ ‘White Room,’ ‘Crossroads’ and ‘Badge,’ performed by master musicians whose lives have been steeped in the Cream spirit and legacy.”

Jump into a conversationMan I loved Cream growing up. I saw the reunion tour about 10 years ago or thereabouts at MSG but that was kind of a letdown. All the tunes were played without any improvisation..like they were going through the motions. Wish I could have seen the original from back in The day. They were so explosive, raw, and improvised plenty on the live album.
Sounds like this would be a great show. Love the music of Cream. Hope they find their way to the States.
