Joe Bonamassa Announces Summer Tour, New CD

Two-time Grammy-nominated blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa has announced a new U.S. tour for this summer. For the tour, Bonamassa will pay tribute to classic country music.

In addition, the guitarist has announced the release of British Blues Explosion Live, on which he pays homage to Legendary British Guitarists Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page with performance of their blues-rock classics. The album will be available on double CD/DVD/Blu-Ray and 3-LP (Blue, Red & White) via J&R Adventures, on May 18. Supporting Bonamassa on the album are Michael Rhodes (bass), Reese Wynans (keyboards), Anton Fig (drums) and Russ Irwin (rhythm guitar and backing vocals).

Bonamassa’s limited run of summer shows will honor the writings of country music legends Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, George Jones and Hank Williams. According to a press release, Bonamassa “will put his own signature blues rock spin on these timeless country classics.” The tour kicks off in San Diego at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay, and then to Vina Robles Amphitheatre, San Jose’s Center for Performing Arts, LA’s Greek Theatre, Eccles Theatre, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and an extended stay at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The Ryman shows are also set to be filmed for release at a later date.

Bonamassa’s band for the tour will include Australian country star Troy Cassar-Daly, Michael Rhodes (Academy of Country Music’s 2016 Bass Player of the Year), Reese Wynans (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee as a member of Stevie Ray Vaughn’s Double Trouble), Anton Fig (drummer of David Letterman’s house Band) and Mahalia Barnes (Australian rock singer and daughter of Jimmy Barnes).

Last year, Bonamassa released Live at Carnegie Hall—An Acoustic Evening, recorded at the storied New York City venue Jan. 21 and 22, 2016. The DVD and Blu-ray versions included The video pieces include 104 minutes of feature film and over 45 minutes of bonus features.
