Update (11/15 8:05AM ET): The members of U2 paid tribute  to the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks, outside the Bataclan concert hall.

Update (11/13 11:21PM ET): U2 and Live Nation have understandably postponed Saturday’s scheduled Paris concert, which was going to be broadcast on HBO.

The official statement from U2’s website:

As a result of the ongoing state of emergency across France, the U2 Paris concert scheduled for 14th November will not be going ahead as planned. U2 and Live Nation, along with HBO who were due to live broadcast the Saturday concert, are fully resolved to go ahead with this show at an appropriate time.

Speaking from Paris the band said: “We watched in disbelief and shock at the unfolding events in Paris and our hearts go out to all the victims and their families across the city tonight.

“We are devastated at the loss of life at the Eagles of Death Metal concert and our thoughts and prayers are with the band and their fans.

And we hope and pray that all of our fans in Paris are safe.”

The members of U2 are currently making their way through Europe as part of their ongoing William Blake-inspired Innocence + Experience tour (officially styled “iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE”), but if you’re not one of the lucky ones attending a show, we’ve got good news. HBO will be broadcasting the band’s upcoming performance at AccorHotels Arena in Paris on November 14th.

Expect a set list that spans the band’s lengthy career, with songs dating back to their 1980 debut Boy, as well as all manner of surprises. So far, the trek has seen U2 welcoming unexpected guests like Lady Gaga and Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, and pulling out songs they haven’t played in 25 years. HBO will also be premiering a behind-the-scenes documentary featuring interviews with all four members of the band as well as those who worked tirelessly backstage to help conceive the tour, which employs a variety of innovative stage, sound and lighting designs.

U2 are scheduled to play in Paris on November 10th, 11th, 14th and 15th, before heading to Belfast and Dublin for the final dates of the tour. Check out our review of this summer’s North American leg and its unique staging here.
